WHERE

Frankenculture is a way for holders of complex, fractured cultural identities to resolve their own place in cultural dialogues. As such, it has no particular geographical location, though all artefacts are currently based upon my own frankenculture of Hong Kong, China and Australia.

I realize though, that I am not the only monster out there- so if you are, please let me know! My perception of culture is limited- I can only speak in nuance about my own culture(s). I'm always looking for ways to expand frankenculture(s), and easily, frankenculture can be a geographic thing, or a singular person. Below is a short list of examples, which is by no means an exhaustive list...

  1. Filipinos in Hong Kong, who regularly subvert spaces in high-class but are not granted abode

  2. Chinese in Liverpool, who have created their own landmarks

  3. International students who have lived half their formative years between two (or more!) homes

  4. People who come from countries that they'd rather not be associated with

  5. Mixed families

  6. People who are constantly travelling / uprooting themselves
